It's Membership Renewal Time
Posted October 29th, 2009

Dear NCDC Members,

As we enter this fourth quarter of our calendar year, it is once more time to ask you to renew your membership in the National Catholic Development Conference.

By renewing, you together with all our NCDC members will continue to lead the Catholic development community toward excellence in the ministry of ethical fundraising. With your membership dues, we will continue to provide education, resources and networking opportunities for you. Together we will continue to advocate for best practice, respect for the rights of our donors, fair regulation of our sector and a better understanding of the development process.

In her book, Finding Our Way: Leadership For an Uncertain Time, Margaret Wheatley talks about “communities of practice” that are much more than just another network. She says that:

They are communities, which means that people make a commitment to be available to each other, to offer support to share learning, to consciously develop new knowledge. They are there not only for their own needs, but for the needs of others…the focus extends beyond the work of the community. There is an intentional commitment to advance the field of practice and to share those discoveries with anyone engaged in such work. (P.175-176)

The National Catholic Development Conference is such a community. Become actively engaged in NCDC through participation in programs and volunteering on committees. Ask questions, express concerns, and give us honest feedback. Make this community your professional community of support, challenge and growth.

You have a choice to “go it alone” or to be part of something larger than yourself and your organization. You have a choice to renew your commitment to the larger Catholic development community. Choose today to renew your organization’s commitment to best practice and ethical fundraising in the context of fundraising as a ministry.

Renew your membership in NCDC today.

May God continue to bless your ministry efforts,

Sr. Georgette Lehmuth, OSF
