Fundamentals and More: Doing Development in a Small Religious Institute
Posted February 8th, 2010

For the past five years, the National Catholic Development Conference (NCDC) has offered an extremely popular workshop, “Fundamentals and More,” especially designed for small religious institutes that currently have no resource development program. This workshop was created in response to a survey of religious institutes conducted by National Religious Retirement Office (NRRO) and NCDC that indicated some significant trends:

  1. Most religious institutes are struggling financially
  2. Most realize they need new sources of revenue and support.
  3. There are a significant number of viable institutes who do not have a resource development program in place.
  4. Most of these groups are interested in learning how to establish such a program.
Previous workshop attendees included priors, major superiors, treasurers, leadership team members and in some cases, a person who was designated as the future development director. In evaluating the program, participants felt “Fundamentals and More” was well worth the investment of time and energy and they learned a tremendous amount in such a short time.

At the recommendation of the participants and the requests of those still interested in attending this program, we are again offering “Fundamentals and More.”

The presenters, Sr. Madeline Franze, SSJ, CFRE and Sr. Mary McFadden, SSJ, CFRE and our tutors for this program are highly qualified with a great deal of expertise, specifically related to religious institutes. Every participant walks away with:

  • Invaluable information to take back in order to make a decision regarding the establishment of a development office or program.
  • An organized reference binder with instant access to important information and notes.
  • Clearly identified next steps for creating a development plan for their institute.
  • Information that is practical and applicable to their institute and its needs.
  • Mentors available to offer support and assistance

Space is limited. We will only be able to accommodate twenty (20) congregations with two (2) persons from each participating group. Additional persons will be placed on a waiting list. Last year the workshop filled quickly. We suggest you register as soon as possible.
